Saturday May 9th, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, Rain or Shine

At the request of community members, we are once again organizing a Garage Sale in the Hamptons.  This is a huge event that typically has 100 to 200 homes participating.  It attracts  people from all over the city.

There is no fee involved.  We only ask that when you need the services of a Realtor, you remember us.  Call us for a personal interview to discuss your real estate needs.  Call Stella Tsang, our Mortgage Specialist, to discuss your financing needs (see contact details below).

Register Early

Simply complete the registration form on this page before May 6th.  If you have any problems, email maria@calgaryfamilyhomes.com or call Maria at (403) 389-5323.

We do all the advertising, provide neighbourhood signs to direct traffic to your house, provide a sign for your lawn and give you a Garage Sale Starter Kit.  We also provide a map for the bargain hunters with all the Garage Sale locations listed.  All you need to do is put up the lawn sign on the day of the sale and have your  treasures organized for the bargain hunters.

When the sale is over, just take down the lawn sign and leave it on your front steps.  We will remove all the neighbourhood signs after the sale and pick up the lawn sign by the following day.  A few days after the sale we will send a survey to get your feedback on how to improve for next year.

A Garage Sale is an environmentally friendly and  effective way to eliminate the clutter that builds up over the years.  Eliminating clutter is one of the things to do to maximize the selling price of your home.  Should you be planning on selling your home, allow us to show you other ways to maximize your selling price.  We provide free evaluations.

Garage Sale Pointers

1. Select items to sell.

2. Clean and repair if possible.

3. Tag or remove items NOT for sale.

4. Set up display tables.

5. Clean sale area.

6. Separate items into categories.

7. If you’re a good cook, why not sell some baked goods or let your kids have a lemonade stand.

8. Decide on a fair price.  Expect to dicker; it’s part of the fun.

9. Fill out price stickers.

10. List items on the inventory sheet.

11. Set up a cash box for change.  A $20 float is recommended.

12. A pocket calculator is handy to have.

13. Assign specific jobs to family & friends.

14. One person on the cash is essential.  And watch out for potential shoplifters.

15. Place your lawn sign (provided) in front of your house.

16. Lock your house while in the garage or yard.

17. During the sale, mark off sold items on the inventory sheet.
